I actually really like this album a lot. I do feel emotion and meaning throughout the entire album, but I agree that the way the singles were put in there makes them seem kinda out of place. This is like a breath of fresh air after GUILTY, which was a disappointment to me. I like electro-pop music. I don't like Ayu trying to do rock all the time, it's boring. And after hearing her speak about the album on the radio, I can really appreciate it and her more. She doesn't stick to the same thing over and over; she wants to do different things. Some people need to accept the fact that not everyone is gonna love it. No need to get upset if someone hates a song that you love.
I also don't think people should judge her lyrics based upon a translation you've read because I've noticed when translating that sometimes going Japanese to English ends up simplified in order to get it to sound right. I don't think Curtain Call is simple or cliche...I think it's very direct and one of her better piano ballads.
