Oricon is the main chart in Japan, just like Billboard is on the US. It measures how popular new releases are depending on how well they sell, and thatīs from we get the sale numbers and positions. Itīs a HUGE institution in the Japanese music industry, with great power inside it and its own rules and little tricks xD Itīs website is more of a musical entertainment site, more than just showing the charts, and they have their own system to rule years and releases, so thatīs why itīs tricky to learn about it at the beginning.
