You know how in the beginning of the lyrics there's the line "sometimes I ask myself, how much farther will I have to go? (tokidoki jibun ni toikakeru doko made ikeba tadoritsuku no)" ?
And then, the very last line goes "sometimes I asked myself how much farther would I have to go (tokidoki jibun ni toikaketa doko made ikeba tadoritsuku no to). And also, in the end of the PV she has been executed and her coffin is being carried away.
So IMO, the "Free & Easy" part is actually what happens right after she's "passed away", so now after all the struggling and pain she had in life she's finally "free and easy" when there's nothing of that anymore.
Hope that made sense. I'm not saying that's what she meant though, just my interperation since the song is inspired by the story of Jeanne d'Arc, I've always thought that.

In
an interview, she said she came up with the song while doing a shoot for the magazine
Free & Easy, so I always thought the magazine was the inspiration for the title, although she did say in the same interview that the song is (at least partially) about "freedom".
