like nanako said, bootlegs are region free, thats why it got no problem with the latest vcl but you will got problem to play dvd with region not compatible with your dvd player. I think you should be fine after intstall the 0.8.6, just like me

lol i just installed VLC 0.8.6.i
lol now it isnt recognizing the disk.. so imma update the drive frimware
