No, or not necessarily.
For example...okay this is like, just what I understand it to be, and I'm no expert so yeah...
okay take Divine Ayu. That site is
www.ayumi.primenova.com
Okay, so it's some guy's Ayu site, but it's hosted by Primenova, who has their own server I guess, and provides it for divine ayu to use. And he has all of his stuff there, lyrics, pictures, downloads. All that stuff takes up bandwidth and space on his server, just like a hard drive.
So in our case, I believe we have a hoster, that gives us a server to host our website, and that server has certain amounts of bandwidth, space, etc.
At least, that's how most forums do it, or that I know of...if someone was running this from their home...I would imagine it would be very expensive lol
and yeah, vbulletin is just the software that provides us with the actual
forum. And we do have to pay for that, every time we upload or want something like skins.
But the website domain, is given to us by a host. I don't think it's public knowledge exactly who hosts us though...I remember one time the server went down...and it was like "commonhouse" or something.
Here's a hoster that got first in some...hosting poll
