Totally off topic, I know.
Almost all extras are uncredited, but they are still paid. Very few extras actually show up in the credits of things - those are the featured extras and they get paid more than regular extras do. Auditioning to be an extra is very rare and its usually only for featured extras. I've never been credited for anything I've been an extra in, but I've always been paid. It seems you basically did the same thing that TA members did - got in from some kind of fan thing.
