Look at kuu's 3 SPLASH, it was just an eye candy single with 3 versions with 3 different covers, 3 songs, interludes, PVs etc.
But it still doing worse than even the collaboration single with her sister misono.
It might help for longer chart life somehow but go figure if multiple versions and first presses will be helpful in the future.

Ah well I personally don't mind multiple versions, it's better to have many versions to choose from even if the covers are similar.
I'd say it's obvious Ayu might have a tough time selling her singles physically, that doesn't mean the songs aren't popular, as obviously they are doing well digitally, just that AVEX needs to make her singles more worthwhile, Rule/Sparkle had the remixes, posters and the package was cool - I am not blaming Ayu, as I think the music and the songs are just fine, just that when it comes to marketing AVEX isn't doing the best job imo.
