I actually got into Nami because I read she copied ayu. i guess she kind of does but shes very subtle about it and has never denied it (coughjolincough) I don't mind it at all I love both of them!

Her style now is unfortunetly not in her trancey-anime-videogame-dance pop anymore but more in and R&B bubblegum 90's dancepop. Its good but not great. She wears the same crystal top as Ayu in her "friends' music video (the top that ayu wore in jewel, countdown live 2007-2008 and the cover of the 2009 calender)

nami has unfortunetly never really gotten reallyreally famous (she has 2 number ones in mid 2000's and is now really fighting to be remembered, but she thankfully is realsing alot of stuff now on her new label) and her record companies have always tried to make her into lesser versions of bigger stars. Some of her earlier songs on her first album sound BoA-ish cuz she dances really well like BoA, while others sound Ayu-ish. Overall she has her own style, basically heavy influences of Euro music (she is a big fan of American and European music) and dance music. The only elements that stays is that her voice is very very similar to Ayu's as well as her lyrics.
Alot of her music sounds HALish and this is probably because they composed for her debut album. In fact many of Ayu's composers composed a song or two for Nami's debut album.

Like I said I love both them.
Oh and while we're on Nami, listen to her debut single "Believe". Its one of the best J-pop/dance songs ever.
