Yeah, I wanted to say that too.
Just from the google translation (not reading the source lol too lazy) it seems that there were a bunch of polls and surveys made for people from all over Asia regarding public image... HOWEVER, to determine public image is to determine how popular a person is, or how far-reaching the person's name is. So this basically is a popularity poll, because if you manage your image well, you *will* be popular... which is then kinda weird because I do think Ayu is more far-reaching then Namie in Asia, and Miyazaki should *definitely* have taken the cake. His films are crazy crazy popular. But whatever.
And I wouldn't jump to conclusions about all Chinese sources being trash because that's just a bad generalisation.
