1980s is the most interesting era of Japanese music if you ask me. Most of the Japanese stuff I listen to today are all from 80s to middle of 90s. When I think of 80s JPop, it's definitely the term "idol" that comes to mind. Here are some artists/bands that haven't been mentioned yet:
Kyoko Koizumi, Masahiko Kondo, The Checkers, Hiroko Yakushimaru, Yukiko Okada, Minako Honda, Naoko Kawai, Yoko Minamino, Princess Princess.
