I'm sorry, but maybe the person biased with some culture is you, most jpop tracks that would not be generic on american market, are generic in Japan's market... just as any pop market in the world...
And why not comparint it to american music? What's wrong to american music anyway? Do you at least know american pop music? Cuz most people I see over here bashing over it only know Britney Spear's Baby, baby one more time...
