In my experience though, someone's accent improves drastically if they're mimicking sound rather than reading the words. Jonathan Coulton, for example, doesn't speak french at all, but his accent is pretty good in the french version of his song "Re: Your Brains," the reason for that being, he had a demo sung in french that he could mimic, not just lyrics to read. Ayu's accent is thick when she's reading lyrics, but in this case, she most likely didn't have anything to read - only sounds to mimic. Because of that, she'd probably sound really different saying things like "even so", but she'd still be hard to understand.
