You guys both reminded me, I may not use CD players to play them as much, but, I still use CDs. If I really really want an artist's entire album, I certainly won't download in iTunes. I lose track of the credit card's limit sometimes, and downloading entire albums might land me in some deep trouble.... And in the case of J-Pop, I'm starting to actually buy it now. It's nice to own J-Pop because, it is easy to download but.... when I think about the U.S. music industry, and what I feel like when I download a song or two from a forum or mediafire, I think about the Japanese music industry. I'd much rather try to get music legally from Japan as I do with American music. And then of course it's all just ripped onto my computer, then put on my iPod. Oh well.
And I also burn CDs to backup stuff I download. Like, I have over 20 CDs just of the few .mp3's I download in iTunes every once in a while, ones that I don't have the entire album of. I hate backing up iTunes the iTunes way, so I just burn CDs. And that way I can also listen to them easily in the car. (no iPod car adapter yet)
So CDs are my source of backing up, and getting most of my legal music. I'll also burn mix CDs for friends' birthdays still, too. Just because it seems more personal than sending an email with links or something (and it's not quite a mix tape, but nearly there).
