November 10th Kanagawa police arrested R&B singer Shion (26) for the possession and use of the narcotic ketamine. Shion gave a statement to the police saying, "I did use ketamine in my room."
According to the investigation, Shion had used ketamine and was in possession of it at her home on November 9th.
The police were searching her room in relation to a different case when a plastic bag containing 0.003 grams of ketamine was found under her pillow. The police also found a straw to which Shion admitted having used to snort the drug a week earlier. After taking a urine sample Shion tested positive.
In May of 2008 Shion made her album debut with Candy Girl, which landed at #9 on Oricon album chart. Her most recent album Truth was released this past October, although she recently stopped activities due to a health issue. Shion is a popular singer among young women and had just been nominated for the Billboard Japan Music Awards 2009 in the Best Indies Artist category.
