I think you got the wrong idea
If you have influence, you are “influential,” not “influencial." (

This way Utada really deserves the title, because she took all the things she needed from western music, then she went to Japan with it to release her music and it caused a big impact just because japanese people were not used to listen to R&B music in japanese.
In the other hand Ayu had to create something different with her own hands to be differenciated from her pairs on the music bussiness, this way Ayu created her own mark and influenced
countless artists, just as the article says.

Ayu = Influential
