Actually it is common for ALL releases to get put on the shelves a few days early at the end of Dec. in Japan. This is due to the fact that many stores in Japan are closed the first few days of the new year.

I can just picture the phone conversation between Max Matsuura and Johnny. Johnny assures Max that Kanjani 8's singles are only limited to 50,000 and they won't be doing any promo for them. Max says, OK, we will go ahead with moving Ayu's date then. They hang up and Johnny turns to the nearest staff member and says - Quick! Go produce 100,000 more copies of the Kanjani singles!
