I dunno, Japan Times calling Utada the most influential artist of the decade seems on par with her record company making that claim. In my opinion, they tend to favor some singers over others. If like, I dunno, TIME Japan or something said it, I would think "yeah, she deserves her props, she's been a strong force in J-Pop!". But Japan Times? Eh, no thanks.
