Basically, .jpg is a lossy format that is designed for saving photos nicely. However, it can't handle sharp contrasts very well, which means it's not very suitable for text, and since we're writing letters there's obviously gonna be lots of that. But the .png format can handle this just fine, which is why i think .png should be better for this project. See

Of course, if you guys have made jpgs already and didn't save the photoshop file or something, then by all means don't stress about starting over. But if you did save the photoshop file, you can just save your page directly to .png from that.
