EDIT: My message to Ellen:
Dear Ellen
I'm glad you want to listen to international music. I have been listening to Japanese and Korean music for 4 years now and I don't regret it at all. Although I don't understand what they are singing, I do feel the message they want us to get from hearing their music. Like some say: music doesn't had any language barrier!
I would like to recommend my 2 favorite artists: Ayumi Hamasaki and Tohoshinki/Dong Bang Shin Ki. Ayumi Hamasaki is a Japanese Jpop singer whose lyrics touched my heart. She started her carreer in April 1998 and will soon be celebrating her 12th Anniversary. She writes her own lyrics and composes as CREA. Here you find all her songs with English translation:

My other favorite artist is known in whole Asia. In Korea their name is Dong Bang Shin Ki, in Japan Tohoshinki and in the rest of Asia TVXQ. A lot of people will describe them as 'a boyband'. But they aren't a boyband at all. They are 5 guys with amazing vocals in a group together as brothers. They have written and composed their own songs too. They are in a diffucult time now. They are in discussion with their label in Korea. That's why we, fans, would like them to have this chance. We want to show our support now that they need us the most. Like they sing in their new song 'BREAK OUT!': "We keep the faith eternally"! Here is the song that touched my heart, mind and soul:

Please give them a listen, I know you won't regret it either
