^ Well, in the case of something like 'cardinal sins', "cardinal" is like the basic quality of something, like the principle. It's like the standard..... Dunno if I explained that well, but yeah. ^^' And it's not bad that you were unsure. It's not like that's a common word. I've only ever heard it when people were trying to sound fancy. XD
