It's a very good tactic, too.
It absolutely puzzles me why CD+DVD versions of albums aren't standard in the west. I'd rather a re-release of an album with the music videos included than re-release of an album with just like one or two new songs (that usually aren't that good). I also don't get why they release like one or two singles then the album and then keep releasing singles off of the album. o_o I mean, I get it's to promote the album but at the same time a good part of the target audience has already bought the album so why would they purchase songs they already have? I like that J-artists release all the singles beforehand as it increases the hype because you're thinking "oh these singles are amazing, I wonder what the whole album will be like" y'know? It's a lot more exciting than hearing the whole album and wondering which track you've already heard that they will make into a single.
