It starts on October 2nd but it does not end until the 11th, which is a national holiday called the
Health and Sports Day, specifically in commemoration of the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and I think it's quite a good coincidence that it is held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, which hosted the swimming, diving and basketball events 46 years ago...
