My family is pretty much the same.
They cant understand how i can listen to music that i dont understand, but i can just look up the translation and problem solved.
The only one who isnt so bad is my mom, she's like once you get over the uber high pitched ness of ayu, its not actually that bad.
I think it just depends on how open to new ideas a family is.
