I have no clue either, I was wondering about that because Gackt is part of Avex and before that Crown and they aren't consider Independent either. Maybe they didn't know how to categorize him?

I thought She was fairly popular in Japan. Also how is it Ke$ha and Owl City and some other American artist are on the list but Lady Gaga isn't. Last I checked people still liked her. The nominations doesn't make any sense to me or even the category, why is there one for Jazz and yet no category for Rock and why is there so many people nominated, usually its about 4-6 people nominated for a category not 56.
Anyways I'm glad that Ayu got nominated, as far as winning or not I have no clue, there just too many people on the list.
