I don't see how mainly liking BoA doesn't make you a JPOP fan at all. You don't need to love Madonna or Michael Jackson necessarily in order to say you're a fan of american pop, so it's not like liking BoA, but not really caring for ayumi or Utada, will mean you're not really into JPOP, regardless whether you think she's lesser influential than other artists.
