I think lots follow it like a trend. Like my good friend.
I treat mainstream kpop like I treat johnnys and japanese idol groups...I find it all quite overrated just because I don't think they're amazing. At all
Or consistent for that matter.
I used to just avoid kpop but then I asked for some in a thread here. And I listened to a ton. I came out only loving one artists and hey were k-indie lol
I love most types of music. Even "generic mainstream" music. If its good its good.
Most kpop groups and artists just have music I can't like. Not even catchy. Annoying.
But good songs can be produced. Like G-dragons Butterfly imo.
Even BoA I already loved BoA before HV. I got into her when I got into jpop. She was catchy and fun and generally lovely. I still like some of those songs
HV just made me lose hope in loving BoA songs. I mean. Even BoA was just like any other mainstream kpop artist. just a solo one
There's another female artists who I feel the same about
Oh well~ I'm sure ill find another one of those songs I love within the mainstream kpop that most fans obsess over.
But I DO like K-indie now. Some good stuff there.
But I'm happy kpop exists as with any music. If peoe are enjoying it then that's fantastic
As for kpop fans....lol....the only thing that somewhat bothers me is when i see some so harsly criticizing american mainstream artists and denying them having any talent or being too generic or copies etc. Its like very ironic to me. XD
