I hate it when people say stuff like "Why do you always listen to Japanese music? They all sound like they're five." It's so shallow, really.
It's really hard to convey to someone with no interest in Japan or its music how much more honest the music and lyrics are, especially Ayu's. Her image is much more respectable than American popstars' images as well. I mean, here it's all about who can cause the biggest controversy, who can be the most shocking, who can be the skinnest, who can wear the most expensive, revealing clothes. If you look at Ayu, she has so much more class than that, and so much more honesty. Her songs are about more than a boy she met or a night she spent drinking. They're about life, and experiences she's had that so many can relate to...
I don't know. It's just a different culture there. Japanese pop artists are far more respectable, I think, than American pop artists.
