Just because you're vocally talented doesn't mean that people will respond to it. Extraordinary vocal abilities aren't necessarily important to pop music, but charisma certainly is. Audiences will support and idolize the person who embodies their own values and aspirations and I think for a lot of people singing extraordinarily well isn't as important as being attractive.
