I'm not that familiar with the pricing trends in Europe, but I know the price of Blu-ray players has decreased a lot over the last few months here in the US. I've seen several priced around US$65 (about €49) lately.

In Europe, well in France actually, Blu-Ray players are still very pricey... just because almost every of them can play DVD (of course) and can burn DVD too.
And Blu-Rays
ARE region-coded... Unfortunately, JPN Blu-Rays and European Blu-Rays don't have the same region code, whereas DVDs are coded in region 2 in both countries.
