They used mainly real violinists for this album. If you hear strings, they are a pair of violinists/a real string section.

あゆちゃんのニューアルバム

Love songs

が発売となりました

レコーディング中はたくさんの
音楽的な感動体験があったんですが
今回はアルバムの最後の曲
November　について書きます

最初に頂いた小室さんのデモは
リズムもなくて
トランシーな音色のシンセの音で
哀愁漂うアンビエント・トランス
といった感じでそれはそれで
とても完成されていたんですが

今回のアルバム全体の裏テーマとして
シンセシンセした音はなるべく減らして
オーガニックな仕上がりに！というのが
暗黙の了解としてあったので

とにかくどの世代が聴いても
ノスタルジックで切ない気持ちになるよう
子供の頃とかを思い出すよう
そんな感じにしようかなと

木琴や僕のアイデンティティーともいえる
必殺のピアニカをフィーチャーしてみました

で　問題はリズム隊です

ドラムは奥行きと余裕があって
スケールの大きいサウンドで
なおかつクールに　と言う感じを
目指したかったので
迷わず　SEVEN DAYS WARでも
やってもらったヴィニー・カリウタを
リクエストしました

で　ベースなんですが

SEAL の　CRAZY　という曲みたいに
短くて少ない音色で
躍動感がありつつもクールに
という感じにしたかったので
CRAZYのベーシストは誰かなと調べたら
これもやはり　SEVEN DAYS WARで
やってもらったピノ・パラディーノでした

ピノはイギリス人なので
通常アメリカにはいません
前回はツアーの途中でたまたま
ロサンゼルスにいただけで
本当に奇跡的にお願いできたのです

スーパー・コーディネーター/通訳の
ま姉さんことまいさんに

ロックじゃなくて落ち着いてて
でもグルーヴがバッチリな人

とリクエストしたら

なんとネイザン・イーストに
オファーすると
しれっと言うではないですか

ネイザンといえば
エリック・クラプトンの右腕
とにかく世界最高峰のベーシストです

先日飲み屋で
大先輩の超大御所のシンガーの姉さんから
最近誰かセッションミュージシャンと
仕事したか？と聞かれたので
ネイザン・イーストと答えたら
椅子から転げ落ちたくらいでして

まあとにかく緊張したまま
デモをネイザンとヴィニーに送り
レコーディング当日がやってきました

ドラムとベースをせーので
一緒に録音したんですが
最初のセッションで　ぱ　パーフェクト！
涙がにじんでくるのをこらえるのに
必死でした

一応僕らサウンドプロデューサーは
ミュージシャンがどんなに大御所であっても
演奏に指示をしてまとめなくてはならないので
現場で舞い上がったりしてはいけません
冷静に構えてなくてはなりません

冷静でいるのが難しいくらい
最初から最高の演奏でした

一応　もう少しシンプルに
という指示を出して
もう一度演奏してもらったんですが

ヴィニーもネイザンもうまいので
あっという間に妙にこなれちゃって
完成度が高すぎちゃって「仕事」ぽく
なっちゃって・・・

結局最初に音を出した最初のテイクで
本番をオッケーにしました

冗談を言ってゲラゲラ笑いながら
やってきて
演奏中は鬼のように集中して
曲の世界観にのめりこみ演奏し
また冗談を言ってゲラゲラ笑いながら
あっという間に去っていった
ヴィニーとネイザン

うーん　かっこいい

一撃必殺！　
普段は余裕を持って行動し
周りを油断させるべし
その代わりひとたび剣を抜いたら
一撃必殺！

というその立ち振る舞いは
正に武士道/サムライです

僕もミュージシャンとして
そうありたいなあと思いました

感動の体験でした

浜崎あゆみ女史のニューアルバム
"Love songs" が発売されました

またしても
レコーディングにまつわる
ちょっとしたエピソードを
書こうと思います

"Like a doll" は当初
ヒューマンリーグの
"Don't you want me"
みたいな　モロ80's指向の
エレクトロ寄りアレンジだったんです



そのバージョンであゆちゃんも
いったんは歌を録り終えました

で　トラックダウンを
"Dream On" 同様に
Jacen Joshua

に振ろうと考えてました

リアーナ ケイティー・ペリーを
手掛けるJacenなので
バッチリだろうと思ってたら

あゆちゃんが僕に話がある　と

「話がある」と言われたら
それはつまり
アレンジを大幅に変えろと言う事である

いやいや　とはいえ
もう歌も歌って録音したし
そんなに大幅には変えないだろう
と油断していたら・・・

せっかくJacenにやってもらうんだから
シンセシンセした感じは無しにして
もっと今風にやっちゃって！
やりきっちゃって！振り切っちゃって！

コーラスのパートも
新しく考え直して
たくさん増やして！

との指令を承りました

というわけで
アレンジを1日でゼロから
組み建て直しです

この時点で僕は
なんだか説明の付かない
やる気に満ちています

あゆちゃんは
やる気スイッチ　を押す事の
天才だと思います

というわけで
レコーディングも佳境の
最後の方で
斬新で不思議なアレンジの曲が
できあがりました

結果的には
あゆちゃんの思惑通り
アレンジを変えて大正解でした

あの人は
プロデューサーとしても
天才です


しかし更に　
あゆちゃんがすごいのは

へっへっへっ
このコーラス・アレンジは
ちょっと複雑で
こう来るとは思わないだろう

といったアプローチの
コーラスのラインを提示しても
たった1回聴いただけで
もう覚えてしまって
さっさと歌ってしまう事です

うーん
根っからのミュージシャンなんだなー
と　毎回感心してしまいます

Jacenのトラックダウンも
Dream On同様に完璧でした

ピアノとストリングスを
最大限に生かしつつも
超今風のビートのアプローチ
そして　聴いてて気持ちいい
ボーカルの処理

うーん　
Jacenもまた間違いなく天才だ

というわけで
じぶんにとっても
少しは成長できたかな
といった感じで
とても良い経験ができた曲でした
