Browsing the web, everyone's shocked lol. Japanese Twitter users are fairly supportive and happy. Japanese blog comments vary a lot. Some say "Omedetou!" while others negatively criticize her decision to marry a "white foreigner from Los Angeles." I did see one Japanese comment that said Ayu was lucky for "catching a white man."
Some even say that Manuel's only marrying her for money. People are also speculating about whether Ayu will move to the US or stay in Japan.
