Don't get me wrong - just an hour ago I've just paid nearly that much for a dinner in one of the Abu Dhabi poshiest restaurants, so can afford it perfectly well. But enough is enough.
I reckon that even if ayu will retire eventually - avex will still suck the huge $$$ from the fans. I actually remember posting on this here forum about two years back that the release of old concerts on blu-rays at horrible prices is just a matter of time. Please do remember for the future: there WILL be a compilation of all PV's (that so far have not even been released in 5.1 audio format yet - except very limited MY STORY dvd audio that I really enjoy putting into my home theatre thingy) - like five blu-ray disc set or something for some hundreds of dollars.
Well, I'd rather give $500 to a charity or something...
cheers

With this I don't agree AT ALL.
Since she started shooting her tours completely in HD back in 2005(before she used HD-SD mixes like in ST 2002 but mostly not HD) we knew there would some day be rereleases, it's not like these came surprising to anyone. A few years ago it did NOT make sense to release these, she could have started 2009 or 2010 but even then blurays did not sell well enough to produce them, so what did you want them to say? "Hey guys, you can buy this DVD now and in 4 years if you like you can get it on bluray!!!" - these were meant to be on bluray or another HD format from the moment the cameras were chosen but it did not make sense to release them back then, especially as in 2005 to my knowledge blurays weren't even out yet?
this is not a later decision, these are NOT upscales as shown from the TV special some time ago, and this is not unfair to people that bought the DVDs because they most likely did not have the hardware neccessary to play these until a year or 2 max.
Even now instead of complaining like you I would be happy we get them, because honestly I didn't really expect them until sometime 2012 when she releases PoM tour.
It's understandable they didn't release these earlier because every time you release something in a format that is not yet wellknown enough, no matter how good that is, you make a minus. Look at her DVD-As, it's amazing what she did to MY STORY but I doubt they actually made any profit because they had to mix them again, master new DVDs, promote them, produce them, get stores to sell them...and then VERY few people are able to properly play them on their devices...and that's probably the reason they didn't do it again: noone buys it.
The same would have happened to blurays until 1 or 2 years ago, they only just now got succesful enough, many people still do not even know what bluray is.
And I honestly doubt this compilation will come. You do realize the reason 50 singles live collection or whatever it's called was NOT released on bluray is most likely that those simply are not HD recordings? They would have to upscale around half of them and by that produce an inferior product. Now some people DO that, like Nightwish who released a horrible quality bluray of their farewell concert, but avex and Ayumi so far have not done anything like that, or at least not that I can think of. Same goes for her PVs, most if not all have probably been shot in SD and releasing them on bluray would be putting out an inferior product.
Yes, they like to milk us, that's what companies are ALL ABOUT. But they never lied about it, they never release an inferior product just to milk us and they never forced anyone to buy all of it. These blurays are an option for people who want to watch it in higher quality, not a must buy, so why the hell are you complaining? Don't like to be milked for your money? Then either buy the most simple versions or don't buy anything at all. And yes, these are expensive, but they are the normal bluray concert prices, did you expect them to sell them for 50% of that?
Just be hapopy we get these...
