Ooo~! finally silis spoke up about the 'lipsyncing' issue.

Spoiler:
silis7noy2 @ soompi [19/07/2011]

Sorry for responding late to people who pm me.(But feel free to pm me about anything snsd though I cant guarantee quick replies ): ~ ) About this lipsyncing discussion:

There is a misunderstanding about some SNSD performances "lipsyncing"

The bottom line is that the majority of SNSD's performances are sung live, more than most people realize in fact, and indeed SNSD's live performances outweigh anything else significantly such that SNSD is undeniably recognized in in Korea and Japan as the dependable high performance group.

Now, dance artists doing concerts will have some stages that are not full 100% live - usually those requiring high performance dance routines. This is same for any performance artists in Korea, America or anywhere. But even for these few stages SNSD sings much more than most people realize.

For an average person it is often very hard to determine the degree of live/lipsync in these high performance stages because of real-time audio processing that goes on. For example if a vocal backtrack is used and the volume is put up too much it starts to sound like lipsync even when it is really sung live. Or when the live vocal track is heavily processed to reduce stage noise the final mix can sound less live-like. And there are many more complex audio issues that can cause live/lipsync misunderstanding like this because the first goal of these audio processings is not to make it sound live but to make it sound clear and audible.

Plus the fact that SNSD is capable of CD-like live performance ironically addes to these misunderstandings. Some laymen listening to SNSD MusicBank Tokyo dome performances would get confused and say it sounds like lipsync.

And for TV performances things are even more confusing because of even more audio processing going on, Japan TV is more confusing in this regard.
Observe the Mr Taxi performance performance on Hey Hey Hey on June 6th. It sounds mostly like backtrack vocals with just little singing by SNSD and some people were again accusing of lipsyincing.

Then on a preview clip later Hey Hey Hey revealed something different
http://tvpot.daum.ne...33825724&rtes=y
They showed a clip of the original June 6 Mr Taxi performance that revealed that SNSD were obviously singing live, showing that Hey Hey Hey pretty much replaced the original live track with a different one.

The conclusion is that SNSD lipsyncing is rare (mostly only done when there is equipment/venue problem). And some SNSD performances are mistaken and misunderstood as lipsyncing. As natural part of high performance artists' routines some parts of singing can be aided by vocal backtracks as needed and even these minor parts of SNSD routines are misunderstood and negatively hyped. The claim about 95% lipsyncing or girls being lazy is just unfounded.

It's just another issue for SNSD that is ultimately irrelevant. Irrelevant because people eventually recognize the performances, one or two misunderstandings won't affect the big picture. What would matter is the final verdict from the people.

In Korea SNSD is considered the best live performing female idol group. That's the general consensus and in Korea it's very hard for an idol to get recognized as an artist but SNSD is one of only very few who are starting to get recognized as such.

"There is something different about SNSD's stage from other girlgroups. I just get glued to the screen when they are on"
"I don't know since when but when I watch SNSD preformance I start to get goosebumps... I can clearly see their growth..."
"
These are just few comments but I am showing it to you because these aren't from music fans but they are from Korean housewives and these are typical of public responses these days.

Japan has a different culture of idols and there SNSD's status as an artist is already established. And SNSD hasn't even really shown their everything like showing their true vocal prowess on high end music shows like they did on La La La, Chocolate etc. Trust me next year it's going to be yet different again in Japan (:

And for people who asked for concert and Hey3 fan accounts sorry I won't have time (Unlike Korea, Japanese snsd stuff are scattered all over making it hard)

But just know that anytime SNSD is on the response in Japan is always amazing, the concert and Hey3 no exceptions

Here's a couple of typical response after the concert

Dear Soshi, you've done it the First Japan Tour!! Even with such hard schedule you have given us Japanese SNSD fans a greatly moving and exciting experience!! You have overcome various incidents, and entertained us with the greatest of performances!! We were able to experience something truly wonderful!! Truly it is SNSD now! http://twitter.com/#...002971733954560

Ah you know what, once again I was reminded that there will not be an idol who can surpass SNSD

SNSD concert... I want to talk about how I felt... but I cannot even put it in words. I am sorry.

I agree with silis, since it's kind of strange how they're always performed live in Korean music shows when it's not like that in Japanese music shows '__'a
And true, in the Hey3x Special Live preview, it was clearly shown that they sung MR. TAXI live before, totally different with the broadcasted audio.

Of course they did lipsynced in some occasions but it's understandable. Even as a fan, I hate it when singers lipsync, but we know better than that because there must be a reason why they did it. Like Tiffany said before, she and Taeyeon know exactly how it feels like for a singer when they can't use their voice to sing (refer: Tiffany with her cord nodules in 2009 and Taeyeon getting sick in 2010), it's not a pleasant feelings, and it's very heartbreaking to be seen actually.

Sorry if it's random.. Just wanna share my opinion here since people have been talking about this lately ==a

Edit:

Apparently, Sooyoung fell from the stage at the Fukuoka concert ending on the 18th. The staff came from the back to help her and all of the girls were very worried, and Sooyoung came back laughing at herself while all of the girls crowded her looking very worried.
And it was said that Yoona's dad and sister came to the final concert.

Spoiler:
Quote:
[FANACC] Sooyoung fell from the stage because she were just overwhelming fun but she was alright. The staffs also helped to pull her up to finish the performance. Sooyoung was even laughing at herself.

YoonA was pretty sick during the concert today
SooYoung had a fall today
Sooyoung fell from the stage. Members and audiences were surprised. Staff came from the back to carry her. She came back at the end.
“Sooyoung after falling incident: ‘I’m alright. I was embarrassed so I couldn’t come back. Did you have fun?’”

“Until SY returned, Taeyeon didn’t speak and looked surrpised. When SY returned Taeyeon had teary eyes and approached SY with a happy face.”
‘After Sooyoung came back on stage, Yoona rushed over to her, looked very worried at her and cried.’
‘Yoona’s physical condition today wasn’t good. She coughed a lot and couldn’t drink water in one gulp.
