A similar thing happened to me with Hikki because of some really extreme fans, but Hikki's the only Japanese artist that's happened to me with. With K-Pop, I practically can't even listen to or watch SNSD because all I can think of is their craziest fans (which seems to be about 75% of them) and how freakily obsessed they are.
Some people just need to calm the **** down.

Someone else touched upon it in this thread already but as for the Korean fans themselves being "intense", it has to do with it's essentially preteens to teens that listen to idol music in Korea. The possessiveness, jealousy, bashing, harassment, etc. stems from immaturity.
