I think it worried avex more because Guilty didn't make it to the #1 spot, and Mirrocle World was the first single after that album, having two releases at #2 one-after-another would have surely rallied Japanese media to say her streak of #1s was over.

Actually Shuchishin never released a single beforehand. They were on a popular show (?) and they released their debut single (called Shuchishin as well) on the same week. MW was released a day earlier because April 8th was not Wednesday, which means MW had an extra day sale during that week. Ayu got no. 1 on the first two days I think, but SCS got no. 1 for the next three days and their cumulative sales were threatening MW's sales. avex got panic because MW was meant to be ayu's 10th anniversary single (and I have no idea why they didn't for GULITY anywayz). So they set up a mass promotion at the concerts on the weekends (like, buying 2 covers would get poster, all 4 covers would get a photo taken in the concert, etc). I can't remember what she got on saturday, but miracle happened on Sunday when the sales were even greater than the 2nd day sales. Here's the thread about the first week sales:

So this incident tells us that those artists with no. 1 streaks can be broken anytime when a new artist with unknown force debuts on the same week.
