That just...doesn't make sense to me haha They didn't need lighting, they didn't need any heavy equipment, they needed simple make-up for exactly ONE person in each of those scenes...sometimes for no person...they just had to calculate the speed they wanted to emulate, find the right routes and then take a photo each x meters according to that speed.
And damn, I forgot about that opening japanese part xD Still I doubt the people shown were even paid so that wasn't much either.
It may have been more expensive than a video shot purely in front of a greenscreen(well, it probably was) but I wouldn't call that an average one haha That's a Beyonce-esque cheapass one xD

In the end of the day, they needed to record the process to make a making off

So, they needed a bigger crew... Like, 3 or 4 people... And if the actors were recorded on place, and not on a studio with green screen, it all turns out being even more expensive... Both cuz need to transport the actor, and cuz they need to actually film it (what would explain the small crew) matching the photos...
