It may have been easier for him to give up his career and move to Japan, but they obviously decided for Ayu to move to the USA instead. Unfortunately, that didn't happen because of the earthquake.
I hope people don't pounce on me but...they got married; it shouldn't really have even been a question of who was going to move or not. He could have had a much more successful career in Japan ; he wouldn't have had to give his career up at all. imo, if she was actually willing to move to America, then he should have been willing to move to Japan if they were actually taking the marriage seriously.

When they got married, I was very supportive and hoped for the best but alas. Often times part of marriage and serious relationships is sacrifice and it just doesn't look like they were prepared to make that sacrifice.

At least I think this explains for me now why I thought this years CDL was so lackluster.

Do you think someone from Japan flies over to the US and rips up the marriage license? Or deletes the marriage file from some super computer that houses every marriage made by every allied country? And then the officials in the US are just like, "huh, that marriage license suddenly vanished. I guess Japan annulled it. Or maybe it was Italy? I dunno, some other country did something. When's lunch?"
I'm so sorry I missed this part of the thread because it was hilarious. Glad SheFliesHigher and Emiko handled it though, because my head might have exploded.

Is it a No-big-deal issue or they don't quite like people getting divorced?
It's wrong but, I don't think it will be treated as badly because Mannie is a foreigner. Also, Ayu isn't exactly all that high profile anymore, so I expect it to blow over for the most part.
