Yes there is a point to owning CDs. Why would I waste money on something digital when for a couple of extra dollars I can own something tangible? Yeah I rip the CD and never use it, but I ALWAYS prefer to have it there in a physical format. Even if the covers are "ugly", its the music that counts. Even then, most Ayu fans collect her albums, they're going to buy them regardless of what the outside looks like. Most Ayu fans like her for her music, not for her ability to take nice cover photos.
Having something in your hands to hold will always be better than something digital. On top of that, with digital music you are paying for music transcodes and usually pay premium dollar. CDs give you quality you rarely can buy digitally.
