i think this song was popular mainly because of the lyrics, i noticed that songs about love in japan do really well, looking at the popcharts and knowing some of the artists who are in the top 10, the lyrics and melody are simply wonderful, you can easily relate to the lyrics i suspose if you have been in the situtation.
