How do we know she didn't want to be treated like a superstar? For all we know she could have been trying to mix in celebrity circles in America and failed.
At the end of the day, to him, Ayu is not a Japanese superstar, she's a woman a friend of his married, and he will know ten times more than we ever will about their relationship. He has more right than any of us to comment on it, especially as somebody he considers a good friend is getting **** from some butt hurt fans. I'd be pretty annoyed if I were him too, and these fans were speculating about the life of a friend.
Could he have sad it better? Of course! Would I probably have done something similar when I see people who know NOTHING giving my friend crap? Uhhh, yes!
