If he coached Christina, Mika and Utada that doesn't really speak for him being a great coach though...unless they are hopeless cases that is, all still do mistakes that could easily be avoided by singing songs in their own range - or in case of Christina not grunting out high notes that don't belong in the song. Gaga is a really good vocalist with good technique though when she stays below E5s, she does some out of her range stuff for Marry The Night performances and ends up sounding horrible and hurting her voice, too. Conclusion: Everyone he coaches likes to sing out of their own range haha Maybe he encourages the "rockstar" voice ideal which, while involving things like that, is very bad for your vocal health.

About Hikki's vocals. She has a ******** of subtle autotuning on her studio recordings, particularily Heart Station and This is the One. But she is not a bad vocalist, she just writes songs that are far too hard for her and usually out of her range. Given easier songs she could be really, really good.
