I think this whole fanservice thing is really not their decision. SM is VERY huge on the whole "we love each other and are like brothers"-stuff when it comes to their groups, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
I also don't care much for fanservice, but I think it's cute once in a while, even when I don't take it very seriously!
