For me music/lyrics are always the top priority for the singers I adore. Their fashion/image whatever comes after that. It has always been that way. If I only listened artists for their looks, I would ignore Utada Hikaru for example completely but I don't because I prioritize music and lyrics more than her fashion style. Same goes for Ayu, Kuu, Kana and bunch of other singers from Asia and western countries.
