Sometimes it's a ***** to actually file for divorce...at least here in the US. I don't know how Japan works...but when you take into account assets and money and such...sometimes it's difficult.

I remember when my aunt and her husband separated...the expense was too great for them to actually file, with lawyers and everything. So they waited like 9 months until they were in a better position to do so...and then it took a while getting everything split, you know? And then finally their divorce was granted.

It's not a cut and dry thing a lot of the time...

honestly...if this hadn't gotten out, they probably would have continued to be married on paper :/
