I still think Duty is a helluva lot darker than GUILTY. GUILTY, despite it's devastating themes, really reeked of a post-break up album (Together when..., fated, decision, (don't) Leave me alone). I think that one incident that would name the album later in its development has made people believe that is was about that solely...
But still, if Ayu hasn't revealed what the songs are about, then any kind of evaluation can be considered reasonable.
Current conversation:
Yeah, the PVs aren't the epitome of idiosyncratic artistic vision at the moment, but then one could argue that her music isn't either. It is very, very safe for Ayu. I'm not saying that it's terrible (it's definitely not, her best music in years), but it still is safe.
Although I'm not the greatest fan of Party Queen, I was glad to see her expanding her horizons and trying something different...
