When Thousand Arms was released in 1999 was the first time I hear Ayu's song. Man, her voice was screechy, but it got stuck in my head. I started replaying the intro over and over again just to hear that song.
Then the dorama "Long Vacation" started airing in 2000 and i got stuck with a japanese syndrome. Found Hikki's "First Love" cassette next to a girl in an animal print ("Duty album"). I bought them both and was so happy with Hikki's album and started singing to First Love. However, this haunting voice kept bugging my head as if I've heard it before. 2 months later, I forgot about First Love and found myself singing to SURREAL.
in 2001, I bought both "Distance" and "A BEST" cassettes (they still don't have the CDs here) and then I discovered that it was ayumi hamasaki who sang the song on Thousand Arms and became a fan ever since.
