I got bored, so here's a summary of miwa's latest interview with Uta-Net about her new album Delight
Uta-Net Interview (May 2013):
- She tried out new things with this album: a bigger range of music styles.
- She graduated university in April. Her friends have all gotten jobs which means they can only meet up in the weekends nowadays. She feels everyone is giving their own separate ways.
- She debuted while in university so it felt strange and scary to suddenly only be focusing on music at first. But she is as determined as ever to continue down “the path of music”.
- Why the title ‘Delight’? => She made this album hoping people will feel joy/delight when listening to it.
- She works a lot with Naoki-T on this album. He already arranged songs for miwa before her debut. They’re well in sync. Before she met him she could only sing while playing the guitar, but he helped her learn arranging, mixing etc.
- She usually first creates a song and then writes lyrics to it.
- Miracle is her first song with ‘summer’ as its theme. She thinks it’ll be a good summer festival song.
- She loves the summer, because there are festivals, firework shows and lots of events etc. It’s the season when people open their hearts the most; it’s the season when miracles are most likely to happen. Miracle’s lyrics also reflect this summer theme.
- She wrote Hikari He for the drama series Rich Man Poor Man. She wrote it after reading the script.
- Whistle is a high school soccer promo song. Miwa was part of the track and field club in high school, but she also loves soccer. She wrote the song after watching a Yamagata Prefecture soccer contest.
- Delight (the song) was the first new song she wrote for the new album.
- The new album has many different styles. Miwa likes to try out new things.
- My Best Friend is a song she wrote to her best friend when she was 18. Back during her high school days she performed in secret with friends and didn’t reveal this until after graduation. My Best Friend was already released once on cd back then. In April this year, her friend gave her a letter saying “It still remember that gave me the cd My Best Friend”. This made miwa remember the song. She has included the original song (i.e. the original vocals etc.) on the new album.
- Nukumori is a song written for her mother. But because she uses ‘anata’ (means ‘you’. Usually used towards dear friends, lovers etc), listeners might perceive the song in different ways.
- She has graduated and is now starting a new chapter in her life. She think many people who are also starting new chapters in their lives (graduation, new job etc) can sympathize with the songs on this album. Trying out new things can be difficult and scary but she hopes this album can offer support to everyone.
