Its as safe as it gets. IMO, she's a textbook popstar with textbook songs (E.T. was a gem, though. THAT you can say is distinct in her discography) and Roar is more of her standard fare. Let's not pretend its something that it isn't  |
Just because a song is "safe" doesn't necessarily mean that it lacks personality. Personality does not imply that a song is out of the box. What I mean when I say that the song has personality is that I feel like Katy Perry is being genuine in the song. When I heard "Roar", I felt like I got a glimpse at who Katy is-- in other words, her
personality. I'm not even going to pretend that "Roar" is unique or raw or anything like that, but neither is Lady Gaga's song.
