Most of the songs I prefer are emotional, and that emotion is usually sorrow.

Hamasaki Ayumi - For My Dear

I always think of this song as the one that represents my outlook on life. At this point in life, I really feel the words in this song down to the depths of my being. The song is light and airy as most of Ayu's first singles were, but it's much more emotional than the others. The lyrics are what really got to me. When she sings, "I cannot say the words I want to say most" and "I cannot hear the words I want to hear most," I feel the loneliness she must have felt at the tme. It seems so genuine to me. I feel that connection to her.

ZARD - GOOD DAY

This song is one that I listened to on a whim and could not get out of my head after I'd heard it. The singer and lyricist is telling everyone to leave her alone. I felt like I'd been slapped in the face the first time I listened to it. The pain underlying the lyrics and the melody was that vivid. Though she sings that she wants to stop living in such a sad way, everything else in the lyrics seems to betray this notion.

Dreams Come True - Aishiteru, Aishiteta

If you haven't heard this song, listen to it. It's good. Miwa has such a way with description of the little things in life. I really enjoyed this song. I can feel the nostalgia and love in this song. She cherishes the person for whom this song was written.

Hamasaki Ayumi - Hanabi ~episode II~

The sentiments of the song and the feeling of finally, finally moving on from lost love are very powerful. I was really taken by her line "Your name calling my name, your casual habits... I want to forget them, but I dont." Isn't life such a parodox at times? I think only she could write about such things with such frank, piercing sentiments.
