So, after listening to this album many-many times I've changed my mind a bit.
Feel the love -
8/10 for studio and
10/10 for live version.
This song is really fun and catchy, it'd stuck in my head for a while. But! The real pearl this song becomes when it's performed live! PVs suck though
XOXO -
5/10.
I have mixed feelings about this. Her Engrish doesn't bother me at all, but I can't help feeling this entire song is just a third-rate leftover. It's not the appropriate song for the artist who has "Sparkle" in her discography imho.
What is forever love -
6/10.
It's nice and flaws well but... is there anything else I can actually feel about it? Period. It's better than ANother song, but worse than Why...
Hello new me -
8/10.
Ooh, it grew sooo much on me. It's gentle and delicate, a song "Love songs" could have.
Pray -
8/10.
Heartful ayu-ballad, nuff said. I just lack a bit of epicness or a pinch of grief in it.
Angel -
9/10.
Her vocals here seem weird to me sometimes, but I enjoy it much overall coz' it's a fresh-type ballad from the master of ballads. I'm looking forward to "Angel" live perfomane hoping to rate this song 10/10.
Terminal -
11/10.
Here comes the DOOM, the HEARTBREAKER, the SOUL CRUSHER! It's so dark, it's so emotional, it's so adultly sorrowful I can feel real physical pain in my heart. Ayu, how can you slay me so brutally?!
Merry-go-round -
8/10 for studio and
9/10 for live version.
I wish there're none of those awful and useless rap inserts...
Lelio -
9/10.
Hey, what's that - an awesome piece of ayu-lyrics? Wait, no, it's not... An example of beautiful and sensate melody? Nope... Ah, I get it - it's a meaning-empty radiokiller catchy as hell.
NOW&4EVA -
10/10.
This song is a quality mark.
Overall "Colours" turned out to be a pretty solid album and refreshing experience in ayumi hamasaki discography, it's a pity there's no proper marketing campaign. I'm just a bit sad and disappointed with lack of creativity within this release (PVs, covers, coherent delivery included) so I can't call "Colours" album a work of art like "Rock'n'Roll Circus" almost was.
P.S. Why don't we play the last surviving song game anymore?
